Vehicles in California

Local sellers list cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, trailers and even planes here. Before you buy, ask to see the title in the seller's name, run a history report with the VIN and take it for a test drive or have a mechanic check it. Ask about a smog certificate for cars. Vehicles are always picked up, never shipped.

Customers never pay Contract fees. Sellers pay $5 per listing, which helps keep scammers off the site. Paying in the app is coming soon. For now, you and the seller agree how to pay.

Questions about vehicles

What should I check before buying a used car?

The title is in the seller's name, the VIN on the car matches the title, and a history report shows no surprises. Test drive it, and have a mechanic look at it if you can.

Who handles the paperwork and taxes?

In California, the seller signs the title over and you register the vehicle with the DMV. Sales tax on cars and boats is paid at the DMV, not to the seller or to us.

Do I pay a fee to buy here?

No. Customers never pay Contract fees. Sellers pay $5 per listing, which helps keep scammers off the site. The price on the listing is set by the seller.

How do I pay for an item?

Paying in the app is coming soon. For now, you and the seller agree how to pay. Meet in a public place and check the item before you pay. Never pay with gift cards or wire transfers.

How do I post in Vehicles?

Tap Post a listing and pick Vehicles. A listing costs $5 and stays up 30 days, and you can renew it once for free for 30 days more. Sellers of anything over $100 will pass an ID check. ID checks start soon.
